Ask anyone that has enjoyed a therapeutic massage - you will leave feeling refreshed and relaxed. However, there are many benefits of massage therapy beyond relaxation. It relieves stress, eases muscle pain, and leaves you feeling rejuvenated and balanced. Rebecca Scoggins is committed to solutions that best meet your massage therapy needs, including options to customize your essential massage by choosing a combination of any of the following modalities:
Rebecca graduated from Red Mountain Institute for the Healing Arts in 2004, where she learned the techniques of Swedish, Deep Tissue, and Neuromuscular Therapy. While in school, she also focused on getting attunements to practice the Tibetan energy work of Usui Reiki. She went on to learn more specifics about Reflexology in 2006, followed by training with Carole Osborne-Sheets in 2007 to pursue a specialty in Pre- and Perinatal massage.
Rebecca began her professional practice in Hoover, AL, and is now conveniently located in the Birmingham area.
Massage Therapy is a hands-on manipulation of the soft tissue and joints of the body. The soft tissues include muscle, skin, tendons and associated fascia, ligaments, and joint capsules. The therapeutic use of massage by a registered massage therapist affects all of the systems of the body - in particular, the muscular, circulatory, lymphatic (immune) and nervous systems. These benefits include lowering blood pressure, improving the flow of blood, increasing range of motion, and reducing tension, stress, and anxiety. Massage is recommended by medical physicians, obstetricians, gynecologists, chiropractors, osteopaths, psychologists, orthopedic surgeons and other related professionals.
Having a child can be one of a woman's most glorious experiences. Pregnancy is also a time of major change for a woman, both physically and emotionally. During pregnancy, your muscles, ligaments, and tendons loosen and soften. Prenatal massage can ease many of these discomforts, such as lower back and hip pain, sciatic pain, swelling of joints, neck and shoulder stiffness, fatigue and stress. Prenatal massage will assist in alleviating stress in the weight bearing joints and realign posture and body mechanics. Midwives, doulas and yoga instructors recommend prenatal massage as a particularly approriate form of treatment during this time.
